Like Cher, Bono or Rihanna, when a replica watch is named after a person, it is supposed to be an icon. Speedmaster is a good example.First introduced as a racing driver’s watch in 1957, omega was later associated with one of humanity’s greatest leaps in 1969.However, since Speedmaster is the most famous model of omega watches and it has so many variations (Speedmaster, Speedmaster ’57, Mark II, Racing, etc.), it may be a challenge to understand what are the differences.
Released in 1988, Speedmaster Reduced was sold as a smaller, cheaper version of Speedy in the Omega Speedmaster watch collection. So the first thing you’ll notice is the size. The case is 39 mm in diameter and its size is significantly smaller than that of the Speedmaster professional fake watches, which is 42 mm.It is also lighter than the 41.5 mm of the Co-Axial Speedmaster ’57 model and the 44.25 mm of the Speedmaster Racing edition.
In its 20-year production run, there are several versions of the Speedmaster Reduced chronograph. Omega offers Speedmaster Reduced in stainless steel, solid gold, two-tone steel and gold. Except different dial colors, there are various bracelet and belt options..
In 2006, omega released the upgraded Speedmaster Reduced (ref. 3539.50.00), which replaced the Hesalite crystal with sapphire crystal, with a slightly altered dial. By 2009, however, omega had stopped manufacturing Speedmaster Reduced collection altogether.
The Speedmaster Reduced is sometimes referred to as Speedmaster Automatic as it works automatically! This contrasts with Speedmaster’s professional “cheap replica watches“, known for its hand-wound calipers.
Due to the movement, Speedmaster Reduced dial layout allows the three registers to be spread out quite visibly, almost touching the external minute track. In contrast, Speedmaster Professional model’s three dials are closer to the centre. Also note the “automatic” label on the dial, just below the Omega Speedmaster logo.
As omega originally promised, the Speedmaster Reduced is a smaller, cheaper version of the more famous speed pro brother. Some people might say this is a more practical version because of the self-winding movement. A gorgeous chronograph at a affordable price point, even though omega is no longer produced it, the Speedmaster Reduced is still a popular option in the second hand market.
